Coca-Cola Bottlers Association (CCBA) is the  eighth largest Coca-Cola bottling partner worldwide and the biggest on the African continent. They serve 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa including South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Namibia, Mayotte, Comoros, Botswana and Zambia.

They boast a diverse pan-African footprint with more than 30 bottling plants serving over 600,000 outlets across the continent. CCBA employs more than 16,000 people and enjoys the number one market position in all of our 12 territories.

PROJECT SCOPE


Embarking on an 18 – 24-month transformation programme that targets significant Recurring Benefits and  Working Capital Benefits savings and focusses on:

  • ŸBuilding a more resilient and future-proof business model to continue winning in Africa
  • ŸFundamentally resetting CCBA’s cost base 
  • ŸCapturing a material benefit within each FY 
  • ŸSupporting execution capacity in the business so other business critical initiatives are not compromised
  • ŸAddressing any underlying organisational blockers (capabilities, culture, etc.)

DELIVERY


  • Established and managed a corporate “PMO Control Centre” to facilitate transparent and efficient communication of project progress and challenges for the enablement of streamlined reporting to the COO. 
  • Facilitated the channelling of all strategic and tactical decisions through the “Control Centre” to ensure alignment with overarching project objectives and organizational goals. 
  • Implemented robust systems for tracking the performance of strategic and tactical initiatives across the organisation and provide real-time insights into project milestones and key performance indicators. 
  • Directed the development and execution of mitigation plans for initiatives that are not delivering full potential value and ensure timely redirection and optimization of resources. 
  • Fostered collaboration and communication across teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated effort in delivering to project milestones. 
  • Developed and maintain effective communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed about project progress, challenges and achievements. 
  • Optimized the allocation and utilization of resources to ensure efficient and effective execution of transformation initiatives. 
  • Implemented quality assurance measures to ensure that all deliverables meet predefined standards and contribute to the overall success of the project.  


OUTCOME


The CCBA transformation program is delivering significant financial and operational outcomes, achieving significant recurring savings and  working capital benefits. A corporate “PMO Control Centre” has been established to streamline communication, align strategic and tactical decisions with organizational goals, and provide real-time tracking of initiatives and KPIs. Mitigation plans ensure timely redirection of resources for underperforming projects, while collaboration and communication strategies foster cohesive teamwork. Quality assurance measures uphold high standards, and optimized resource utilization drive efficiency. By addressing organizational blockers and resetting the cost base, the program is building a resilient, future-proof business model, delivering material benefits each fiscal year and positioning the organization for sustained growth and success.
